A fourth teacher at James Madison High School in Brooklyn has been accused of sexual misconduct. Gym teacher Lisa Guttila, 37, was charged with misconduct for allegedly having a relationship with a 14-year-old student.
The girl attended Poly Prep Country Day School, where Guttilla was a part-time volleyball coach. Guttila was arrested late January after the girl's mother noticed a hickey on the girl's neck. The student claimed that Guttila had touched and kissed her, and the mother filed a complaint in the Brooklyn Criminal Court. Guttila has been charged with sexual abuse and child endangerment.
In December 2009, teachers Alini Brito, 29, and Cindy Mauro, 33, were caught nude in a closet together. Later in December, teacher Alison Musacchio, 31, was accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a male student.
The accused have been sent to reassignment centers, known as “rubber rooms” - the places where New York City teachers under disciplinary investigation work while they await the outcome of their cases.
